To copy large files with Windows is very slow compared to the same action in Linux. The problem is that Windows is doing the job in very small pices, what leads also to a lot of work for the reading head of your harddisk. But there is a solution available-"Fastcopy",which is parting the fileparts in bigger fragments.
2001 a Microsoft engineer created "Fastcopy" for wasting less time on copyjobs,by the way.
But Fastcopy also deletes files by command straight out of your context menue, once it's installed. The installation is a bit more demanding as usual.Once the usual procedure is done click "Options-Shell Extensions" to install the Fastcopy commands into your context menue.
Important:Mark while the process the addition "Use sub menue"to get the commands in a seperate sub-menue.Once they are installed it's not that easy anymore to get rid of them again, just by the way.
Now you can copy with drag and drop (right mouse key)or through your context menue (right click on the file you intend to copy),click copy (hardcopy)in the context menue and then insert the destination folder manually in the second bar of the tool and just click "Execute".If you're using the "Delete" funktion in your context menue the deleted files doesn't appear in your waste bin anymore and get straight and for good erased.
When using Fastcopy the first time you'll be perhaps as surprised as i was.To copy larger files is done about twice as fast as with Drag&Drop.
