Danny in Schuluniform

Nun is er wieder topfit-unser Danny.

Aquaintances in Sihanoukville

As through privious experiences in Thailand aspected the German speaking expats here are not the guys we want to spend our time with. All the other people you can meet here are far more pleasant company.

Just yesterday we followed the invitation and visited a nice couple from Belgium. We had a good time together and are looking foward to their visit at our place.

Many other examples just confirmed, that it seriously improves our time here,if we avoid these particular people and just don't talk to them at all.

Gung chee naam plaa

This Thai meal is called translated "shrimps in fishsauce".
It's a very spicy shrimp salad with lemon gras, vegitables, lime leaves, lemon gras, fishsauce and a lot of the red chilli peppers.
The shrimps get cleaned, cooked and coeled down while cutting the rest. The shrimps get mixed with the vegis and flavoured with a dressing made of lemon juice, fishsauce, sugar and chilli-ready to serve.
One of my favorite salads in Thailand.

Our food at home

This is one of many different dishes i cooked here so far.Fried noodles with pork and vegitables.A meal we had very often in Thailand. It takes about 10 min of cutting work and 3 min in the wok to prepare this particular meal. The pork get's flavored with "Oyster Sauce" when allmost ready in the wok.

The sauce in the middle of the table is called in Thailand "Prik naam plaa" and is a mixture of Chilli, fishsauce, lemon and sugar. So with this sauce you've 4 different flavours in the same time on your tounge:sweet, sour, spicy and salty.Sounds maybe strange but is in fact the secret of many great dishes in the Thai cousine.

Daniel and Me

Just another pic we did take. It's infront of the very exiting restaurant the"Snake House".

Danny on Daddy's motorbike

Here a pic of Daniel on our motorbike.
It's a Yamaha "Spark" with 115 cc. and around 10 hp.That thing is appropiate motorized and really nice to ride.

Danny's new girlfriend

This is Nita, the daughter of our landlord. She became Danny's best friend and occupies herself for hours with him, teach him English and Khmer. She is also the one who helps Daniel frequently with his homework.
Nita is one of the three kids of Mr.Sonputh, his nice wife Poh owns all the property formally.
The other two girls of Mr.Sonputh are 10 and 20 years old.The younger one Bome likes to draw paintings and play computergames toghether with Daniel. So he's busy there all day long.
Poh said it'S totally common here to share the food with the neighborhood.Because of that it's normal that the both get invited for lunch and homemade snacks on a daily bases. This way Michaela and i learned to prepare a few cambodian dishes like this one:
Fresh fish get dried for 3 hours in the sun until he get flavoured with pepper, salt and lemon. Now the fish goes in the pan for a few minutes. After the fish cooled down it tastes great and is crispy like potato chips-awesome.

The Cambodians in general are very nice people.Their friendlyness, hospitality and their honest interest in our person ofter moves us quite a bit.We are really in loves with this country. You can'T count all the friendly smiles you get here in a single day.

Our outside breakfast spot

It's quite often happen that Michaela and me take our breakfast at extraordinary beautyfull places we find along the way.So after we brought Danny to school we just drive out in the blue to find such a special spot.
So we drove up to to this location and just had our baguettes and sugar cane juice on ice up there the other day.
You can observe the whole bay from this spot as well as many offshore islands.

An awesome view over the best sides of our new home.

A Sunday in Sihanoukville

Today is Sunday and we promised Danny to go to the beach in the later afternoon when the heat cooled down a bit and the intensity of the sun decreases.
Meanwhile i had my motorbike in the garage. The mecanics changed the oil, reajusted and lubed the chain. The whole service took like 10 minutes and was 18 000 Riel-4,50 US$.
I also was early at the backery today to buy some bagettes and munchy stuff for later.Four Bagettes and 3 pice of cake 2$-life is very cheap here.

The backery itself can be seen in the clip of the privious posting.

The beauty of the Sihanoukville province

Here a selfmade Youtube clip about our life here:

We suggest to visit our Youtube channel once a while.More videos are comming soon.

The house we rented here is a 200 US$-approxemitely 150€.The additional sidecosts are about 10-12 US$ included energy. The house itself is around 4 years old, about 120 square meters of living space3 bedrooms,3 bathrooms and a carport,no garden. We are very happy about our new residence so far.

We are on a good way

Hello dear readers,

Thank you for your patience.
We had been very busy the last two month to make it work here.Meanwhile our son received his first compliment from his teacher Megan for beeing so dilligent and learning so fast.In his first 2 weeks in school Danny learned to draw allmost the whole alphabet of Khmer letters.
In the english courses he prevailed all questions,as Megan said.
We are supporting him as much as possible,he also gets help from the neighbor kids and their mum Poh.He loves to spend his time there and went over to their place again right five minutes ago.Weare so happy that he made emidiately friends after we moved in here.

Uns gibts noch

Hallo Allerseits,
