Recent statistics of "life is a journey"

Dear readers,
thanks for your interest in our life here.
Yesterday this blog reached for the first time the amazing number of 7931 hits per day.
Enjoy your time here with our experiences ,our opinions and just our normal dayly life.
By the way, sorry for misspellings,if give my best as a non native english speaker.:)

Kind regards

Sascha

A marriage right infront of our door

Opposite of our house is living a local family. The father is a school director.I once got invited to celebrate the birthday of him with half a dotzend other teachers. We was sitting in a circle on his "Sala" outside and had a few Anchor(local beer brand brewed here in Sihanouk Ville)beer toghether while his wife and daughters stayed inside.
So now his oldest daughter is marrieng in a trditional cambodian ceremony.Non-foraign teachers don't make much money here in Cambodia,so this very friendly and polite family lives a quite simple lifestyle.
We are looking foward to the further fair and are publishing here a video,if we got the allowence of the family.
P.s.:
We missed the ceremeony, while we was invited at the house of an aquaintance, sorry.:(

The German problem

The Germans are not not the funniest people i did meet so far in life.

My people are in my opinion the volk with the biggest lack of solidarity of the western world, the most impolite manners as well as the majority of the German speaking neighbor countries, what a differnce to all others.

These very jealouse guys also enjoy it to hassle others, talk crab obout their co-workers or maybe just take the neighbor to court for a peanut reason.
If you give a German any kind of power over others you can wake the Ceasar in allmost anyone of them.

That's also the way they drive a car for example, free to the motto "I,Me,Mine".I never will forget the daily egoist war on German roads while i had to live there.

We keep only a few exeptional relationships with this people.

But as a boomerang everything comes back to you sooner or later. In this case the country got flooded by totaly unable immigrants who are not willing to work their butt of in order to pay the German paradies for officials which is ruled by lawyers. These guys are behaving totally different and are destroing the society from within.

http://info.kopp-verlag.de/hintergruende/deutschland/redaktion/auslaender-nehmen-deutschen-staat-aus-welt-am-sonntag-spricht-ueberraschend-klartext.html;jsessionid=839E44B60915B9D4BD9CB9D1D357326D

The State is working hard to conseal the facts and keep the way into desaster running,as long as the money of the tax slaves is comming.
As an example:
more than 31.000 EU burocrats granted themselves 3 income raises in once for doing nothing exept fu... up the economy and creating new useless laws.We don't pay that!!!

The biggest betray of a volk in recent history-the currency union brought so much new poverty over the EU that governments are preparing for the worst behing the curtains. They even legalized to shoot in case of a riot at the people. You don't belive?Just google "EU Verfassung" and enjoy the new socialism coming included the harrasment of people with different opinions and so on.
We will watch this scenery from the sideline, keep on enjoying our lifes and really don't give a daim about it anymore.

Erste Resonanzen zu "We are Family"

Ernergy problems

The energy in town was now off for 36 hours over the weekend here in Sihanoukville.Neighbors told us that they are working on a direct connection to Vietnam in order to import energy from the neighborstate.
That would perhaps increase the reliability of the energy net by a 1000% and lower the costs for each household, especially for the businesses who have to pay 100% more right now as private costumers.:)

Danny's schoolmates

When we arrived this morning a little to early at school a group of Daniel's classmates was allready waiting outside. We parked the motorbike and a girl was shouting at Danny "Hello Danny!!"-that was cute. After he had layed down his schoolbag infront of the classroom all these kids started runnig around and playing together.
That was a pleasure for us to see,Daniel allready got accepted and integrated in his school environment.

Marriage invitation

We got invited by John,a british gentleman to join the marriage of his sister in law tomorrow at sunday.
Unfortunately we would have to leave early because Danny have to get up at 6.40 am at the next morning for school. So we thought it would be quite impolite to leave only one or two hours after the beginning.
That's why we choosed to reject John's invitation with many apologies.Thank you anyway very much and sorry again,John.:)

Die Regenzeit is vorbei/Die Börse

Danny in Schuluniform

Nun is er wieder topfit-unser Danny.

Aquaintances in Sihanoukville

As through privious experiences in Thailand aspected the German speaking expats here are not the guys we want to spend our time with. All the other people you can meet here are far more pleasant company.

Just yesterday we followed the invitation and visited a nice couple from Belgium. We had a good time together and are looking foward to their visit at our place.

Many other examples just confirmed, that it seriously improves our time here,if we avoid these particular people and just don't talk to them at all.

Gung chee naam plaa

This Thai meal is called translated "shrimps in fishsauce".
It's a very spicy shrimp salad with lemon gras, vegitables, lime leaves, lemon gras, fishsauce and a lot of the red chilli peppers.
The shrimps get cleaned, cooked and coeled down while cutting the rest. The shrimps get mixed with the vegis and flavoured with a dressing made of lemon juice, fishsauce, sugar and chilli-ready to serve.
One of my favorite salads in Thailand.

Our food at home

This is one of many different dishes i cooked here so far.Fried noodles with pork and vegitables.A meal we had very often in Thailand. It takes about 10 min of cutting work and 3 min in the wok to prepare this particular meal. The pork get's flavored with "Oyster Sauce" when allmost ready in the wok.

The sauce in the middle of the table is called in Thailand "Prik naam plaa" and is a mixture of Chilli, fishsauce, lemon and sugar. So with this sauce you've 4 different flavours in the same time on your tounge:sweet, sour, spicy and salty.Sounds maybe strange but is in fact the secret of many great dishes in the Thai cousine.

Daniel and Me

Just another pic we did take. It's infront of the very exiting restaurant the"Snake House".

Danny on Daddy's motorbike

Here a pic of Daniel on our motorbike.
It's a Yamaha "Spark" with 115 cc. and around 10 hp.That thing is appropiate motorized and really nice to ride.

Danny's new girlfriend

This is Nita, the daughter of our landlord. She became Danny's best friend and occupies herself for hours with him, teach him English and Khmer. She is also the one who helps Daniel frequently with his homework.
Nita is one of the three kids of Mr.Sonputh, his nice wife Poh owns all the property formally.
The other two girls of Mr.Sonputh are 10 and 20 years old.The younger one Bome likes to draw paintings and play computergames toghether with Daniel. So he's busy there all day long.
Poh said it'S totally common here to share the food with the neighborhood.Because of that it's normal that the both get invited for lunch and homemade snacks on a daily bases. This way Michaela and i learned to prepare a few cambodian dishes like this one:
Fresh fish get dried for 3 hours in the sun until he get flavoured with pepper, salt and lemon. Now the fish goes in the pan for a few minutes. After the fish cooled down it tastes great and is crispy like potato chips-awesome.

The Cambodians in general are very nice people.Their friendlyness, hospitality and their honest interest in our person ofter moves us quite a bit.We are really in loves with this country. You can'T count all the friendly smiles you get here in a single day.

Our outside breakfast spot

It's quite often happen that Michaela and me take our breakfast at extraordinary beautyfull places we find along the way.So after we brought Danny to school we just drive out in the blue to find such a special spot.
So we drove up to to this location and just had our baguettes and sugar cane juice on ice up there the other day.
You can observe the whole bay from this spot as well as many offshore islands.

An awesome view over the best sides of our new home.

A Sunday in Sihanoukville

Today is Sunday and we promised Danny to go to the beach in the later afternoon when the heat cooled down a bit and the intensity of the sun decreases.
Meanwhile i had my motorbike in the garage. The mecanics changed the oil, reajusted and lubed the chain. The whole service took like 10 minutes and was 18 000 Riel-4,50 US$.
I also was early at the backery today to buy some bagettes and munchy stuff for later.Four Bagettes and 3 pice of cake 2$-life is very cheap here.

The backery itself can be seen in the clip of the privious posting.

The beauty of the Sihanoukville province

Here a selfmade Youtube clip about our life here:

We suggest to visit our Youtube channel once a while.More videos are comming soon.

Our house in Cambodia

The house we rented here is a 200 US$-approxemitely 150€.The additional sidecosts are about 10-12 US$ included energy. The house itself is around 4 years old, about 120 square meters of living space3 bedrooms,3 bathrooms and a carport,no garden. We are very happy about our new residence so far.

We are on a good way

Hello dear readers,

Thank you for your patience.
We had been very busy the last two month to make it work here.Meanwhile our son received his first compliment from his teacher Megan for beeing so dilligent and learning so fast.In his first 2 weeks in school Danny learned to draw allmost the whole alphabet of Khmer letters.
In the english courses he prevailed all questions,as Megan said.
We are supporting him as much as possible,he also gets help from the neighbor kids and their mum Poh.He loves to spend his time there and went over to their place again right five minutes ago.Weare so happy that he made emidiately friends after we moved in here.

Uns gibts noch

Hallo Allerseits,

Near this beach we intent to open our restaurant once we solved the necessary preparations.
Of course we'll also take our time and observe the situations of other existing businesses before we make any decisions.

The Last weeks in Austria

The Wat Pra Kaeo & The Grand Palace

The Wat Pra Kaeo, the temple of the emerald Buddha is an unique place every Asia friend should have seen at least once in a lifetime. In the past, not so long ago when the national anthem was played daily in Thailand at 5 pm. the whole nation stopped what ever they did and turned towards the Wat Pra Kaeo. It's the spiritual center of Thailand, the most important sanctuary of the nation.
I found this very well made Youtube-clip about the temple:

Motorcycling in southeast Asia

It's a lot of fun to drive around with this little motorbikes. They are quite convinient, also for longer rides.Anytime we got bored to stay at home we just jumped on our motorbike and drove out in the blue.
But particular the rookies be adviced:
Motorcycling in this sometimes insane traffic works like the sex among the hedgehogs-very carefully.:)

Parade part 2

Here my family with my wife's girlfriend and two of her students in their breathtaking traditional Thai silk outfit.

The Kings coronation day

We got invited by the University of Chumphon to join the honor parade at the high respected King Bhumiphon's coronation day in 2005.Here a few pics:

My family in the parade as the first foreigners ever who got invited to join a King Bhumiphon's honor parade in Chumphon's history.

As allways when we were around in Thailand my son was the star and he had in this young age allready more devotees as his father in his whole live.:))

The two young beauties in their traditional Thai silk outfits are students of my wifes girlfriend, who is a english teacher in the Chumphon university.

A nice little Buddhist Temple next to our house

Only a few minutes drive from our house in Chumphon and we arrived at this litle hill temple:

The monks had been very kind to us and invited us serveral times for tea.We in exchange brought in banana leaves packed fish cakes or sticky rice with mangos.

Beach time for the family

My son loved the beach since he saw it the first time in his life.

The Tung Wua Len beach near Chumphon.

Paragliding in Chumphon

I did not allways went flying only by myself and often invited pretty girls like this two beauties from England to join me.We had a good time together.:)

The Kao Pang near Chumphon where i used to fly allmost every day during the dry season.

The take off from the air.

Haad Khom beach in Koh Phangan

The Haad Khom beach again from different views:

The second beach hut from the right was my home for half a year.

The beach in the daytime. The beach was never much more crowded as on this picture.Only a few guys had discovered the spot in these days and we kept the secret. The rough road to this beach also helped to keep it well hidden.
A paradise on earth.
I will never forget the outstanding backpackers i did meet there nor the perfect hospitality of Mr. Too's family.

Sundowners

Here some pics of sundowners made by my honey while we lived in Koh Phangan:

Thats why you don't need a television while living in a beach hut.:))

Europe turns into a lawless garbage dump

Here a nice example of recent developments:

Since a policeman killed a robber in selfdefence after the suspect shot three times with a mashinegun at the police a few days ago in Grenoble,France the streets are burning again and the "Grande Nation" faces similar street violence as shown in the video.
Also many other towns in Europe went into some kind of lawless zones.Yesterday was a short movie clip shown in the www.kurier.at newspaper which displayed how drugdealers are selling hard narcotics straight beside playgrounds in Vienna's townparks. The video clip was made by a mother, who filmed how a dealer sold to serveral costumers, while her kid was playing straight beside.

Thai music from Carabao

A very famous musician of Thailand-Carabao:

Acquaintances in Thailand

When i spended a day on the neighbor island Koh Samui with an English girlfriend to help her to buy a motorcycle and ship it over to Koh Phangan we talked to an old and high respected Buddhist Monk. His name is "Praa Büaa".We talked a long time to him while waiting for the ferry back and got help from english speaking locals, who translated. This was a very moving experience, one of many while living in Thailand.

Haad Khom beach in Koh Phangan

Another outstanding beach of the island-the Haad Khom:

I lived around half a year in a little beach hut there among backpackers from all over the world and yes,we smoked a lot of "fun cigarettes" in this time.:)

One of my favorite meals in the "Coral Bay"-fried fish with chili sauce(They called it "no name seafood").

The owner of the "Coral Bay" his name is Mr.Too was a Thaiboxing Champion in his younger years and made the money for his bungalow set with his fists in the ring.He agreed to teach me Muai Thai and we worked hard on my skills for this 6 months. On the last pic you see how i looked like as a young and very motivated student of this 1000 year old martial art.

Boat pics

Some more pics and evidence of the outstanding craftsmanship of Thai boat builders. This traditional Longtailboat is made the same way the Thais made boats for centuries.

The boat on the beach of Haad Yao,where i lived for half a year.

The way it looked for me while i drove it.It was around 10 meter long and it took quite a while to master the unique driving style with a lot of advice from the locals.

Sometimes i just invited some Thai friends for a free ride. That looked maybe a bit strange to some tourists when the "farang" drove Thais around with such a boat.:)

Of course the boat got blessed by Buddhist monks as a tribute to the sea gosts.

A year in Koh Phangan

It's hard to realize that really 10 years has passed when i lived in Koh Phangan.
An island in the gulf of Thailand of such a breathtaking beauty.
I made my dream come true and bought a original Thaistyle longtail boat. The boat was made on the mainland in a little village near Chumphon. After a Australian friend and me had finished the boat together with the locals we drove it over the open sea to Koh Phangan. The trip took a whole day and did lead through the great Ang Thong Marine national park.A protected park of over 40 little islands. When we drove through dolphins did swim along our boat for quite a while. Finally we arrived at dawn in Koh Phangan where dozents of locals waited for us at the Haad Yao beach and celebrated with us our arrival.

The day comes closer

Another 7 weeks to wait until our airplane departures towards Bangkok.Life often requires a lot of patience.:)
The bar owner changed his mind and decided to sell the bar as soon s possible.
That means that we have to find another income source,my employment as bar manager is cancelled.
Our contact in Sihanoukville suggested to open a restaurant and gave us important informations in this context regarding formalities, rental rates and so on.
