The Last weeks in Austria

The Wat Pra Kaeo & The Grand Palace

The Wat Pra Kaeo, the temple of the emerald Buddha is an unique place every Asia friend should have seen at least once in a lifetime. In the past, not so long ago when the national anthem was played daily in Thailand at 5 pm. the whole nation stopped what ever they did and turned towards the Wat Pra Kaeo. It's the spiritual center of Thailand, the most important sanctuary of the nation.
I found this very well made Youtube-clip about the temple:

Motorcycling in southeast Asia

It's a lot of fun to drive around with this little motorbikes. They are quite convinient, also for longer rides.Anytime we got bored to stay at home we just jumped on our motorbike and drove out in the blue.
But particular the rookies be adviced:
Motorcycling in this sometimes insane traffic works like the sex among the hedgehogs-very carefully.:)

Parade part 2

Here my family with my wife's girlfriend and two of her students in their breathtaking traditional Thai silk outfit.

The Kings coronation day

We got invited by the University of Chumphon to join the honor parade at the high respected King Bhumiphon's coronation day in 2005.Here a few pics:

My family in the parade as the first foreigners ever who got invited to join a King Bhumiphon's honor parade in Chumphon's history.

As allways when we were around in Thailand my son was the star and he had in this young age allready more devotees as his father in his whole live.:))

The two young beauties in their traditional Thai silk outfits are students of my wifes girlfriend, who is a english teacher in the Chumphon university.

A nice little Buddhist Temple next to our house

Only a few minutes drive from our house in Chumphon and we arrived at this litle hill temple:

The monks had been very kind to us and invited us serveral times for tea.We in exchange brought in banana leaves packed fish cakes or sticky rice with mangos.

Beach time for the family

My son loved the beach since he saw it the first time in his life.

The Tung Wua Len beach near Chumphon.

Paragliding in Chumphon

I did not allways went flying only by myself and often invited pretty girls like this two beauties from England to join me.We had a good time together.:)

The Kao Pang near Chumphon where i used to fly allmost every day during the dry season.

The take off from the air.

Haad Khom beach in Koh Phangan

The Haad Khom beach again from different views:

The second beach hut from the right was my home for half a year.

The beach in the daytime. The beach was never much more crowded as on this picture.Only a few guys had discovered the spot in these days and we kept the secret. The rough road to this beach also helped to keep it well hidden.
A paradise on earth.
I will never forget the outstanding backpackers i did meet there nor the perfect hospitality of Mr. Too's family.

Sundowners

Here some pics of sundowners made by my honey while we lived in Koh Phangan:

Thats why you don't need a television while living in a beach hut.:))

Europe turns into a lawless garbage dump

Here a nice example of recent developments:

Since a policeman killed a robber in selfdefence after the suspect shot three times with a mashinegun at the police a few days ago in Grenoble,France the streets are burning again and the "Grande Nation" faces similar street violence as shown in the video.
Also many other towns in Europe went into some kind of lawless zones.Yesterday was a short movie clip shown in the www.kurier.at newspaper which displayed how drugdealers are selling hard narcotics straight beside playgrounds in Vienna's townparks. The video clip was made by a mother, who filmed how a dealer sold to serveral costumers, while her kid was playing straight beside.

Thai music from Carabao

A very famous musician of Thailand-Carabao:

Acquaintances in Thailand

When i spended a day on the neighbor island Koh Samui with an English girlfriend to help her to buy a motorcycle and ship it over to Koh Phangan we talked to an old and high respected Buddhist Monk. His name is "Praa Büaa".We talked a long time to him while waiting for the ferry back and got help from english speaking locals, who translated. This was a very moving experience, one of many while living in Thailand.

Haad Khom beach in Koh Phangan

Another outstanding beach of the island-the Haad Khom:

I lived around half a year in a little beach hut there among backpackers from all over the world and yes,we smoked a lot of "fun cigarettes" in this time.:)

One of my favorite meals in the "Coral Bay"-fried fish with chili sauce(They called it "no name seafood").

The owner of the "Coral Bay" his name is Mr.Too was a Thaiboxing Champion in his younger years and made the money for his bungalow set with his fists in the ring.He agreed to teach me Muai Thai and we worked hard on my skills for this 6 months. On the last pic you see how i looked like as a young and very motivated student of this 1000 year old martial art.

Boat pics

Some more pics and evidence of the outstanding craftsmanship of Thai boat builders. This traditional Longtailboat is made the same way the Thais made boats for centuries.

The boat on the beach of Haad Yao,where i lived for half a year.

The way it looked for me while i drove it.It was around 10 meter long and it took quite a while to master the unique driving style with a lot of advice from the locals.

Sometimes i just invited some Thai friends for a free ride. That looked maybe a bit strange to some tourists when the "farang" drove Thais around with such a boat.:)

Of course the boat got blessed by Buddhist monks as a tribute to the sea gosts.

A year in Koh Phangan

It's hard to realize that really 10 years has passed when i lived in Koh Phangan.
An island in the gulf of Thailand of such a breathtaking beauty.
I made my dream come true and bought a original Thaistyle longtail boat. The boat was made on the mainland in a little village near Chumphon. After a Australian friend and me had finished the boat together with the locals we drove it over the open sea to Koh Phangan. The trip took a whole day and did lead through the great Ang Thong Marine national park.A protected park of over 40 little islands. When we drove through dolphins did swim along our boat for quite a while. Finally we arrived at dawn in Koh Phangan where dozents of locals waited for us at the Haad Yao beach and celebrated with us our arrival.

The day comes closer

Another 7 weeks to wait until our airplane departures towards Bangkok.Life often requires a lot of patience.:)
The bar owner changed his mind and decided to sell the bar as soon s possible.
That means that we have to find another income source,my employment as bar manager is cancelled.
Our contact in Sihanoukville suggested to open a restaurant and gave us important informations in this context regarding formalities, rental rates and so on.
