Liquid sunshine
We filmed one of the first sirious tropical rainshowers of the year before. You also can see Danny watching Toy Story 1 in the meantime on the PC.
Animated movies are running particular well on our Computer through the Nividia 3D graphiccard.

When Danny asked for Donuts and Michi for a Coke i went to the backery and saw emidiatelly an accident of two local youngsters on motorbikes.
Dear tourists,be aware that the roads here are very slippery after the rainshowers,it's like driving on ice sometimes.
In the evening it's raining again nonstop cats and dogs,i hope we don't swim away with our house.:)

Today's vistors at 12.20 pm.
Welcome again dear readers,
it's getting more quiet in Sihanouk Ville,at least the last few days.
Today we talked to a senior from Hawaii near Otres beach while our drive along the coast before. He was walking to town,he said and was oviously in well trained condition,no problem,a nice and easy walk, takes probably 40-60 min along the coast.
We should start also doing more walks here, instead of driving around. We will see how Danny agrees with that.:)

Today we continued in maths again with different equations. We restarted the tasks five times and Danny had 100% right in around half an hour.

Nikkei's first day starting from minus
This is first day since i think five in a row where the Nikkei 225 is starting from minus. After the minus yesterday in the German markets this could lead to further falling quotes. The Nikkei just a few minutes later, easy to see his today's weakness:
Later on(17.15pm)the Nikkei 225 made it quite well back up again:

Upgrade to Firefox 4.0?
We downloaded yesterday the setup file(11,2MB)of the new Firefox 4.0.While doing that we thought why we should replace our 3.6 by the 4.0,because all the nice personas would be gone.
The Firefox 4.0 looks more like the Chrome 10 as the Firefox 3.6,which we like quite a lot.So why converting to a "second" Chrome?
We'll keep the setup file anyway, but if we once decide for it the 3.6 get's replaced and is gone,if you install it in the same folder,as it's supposed to be done.
Of course we keeped the setup file of the 3.6 as well and could convert it back, but ...
To install the 4.0 seperatelly would be for us one browser to much.

Euro at 1.50 $ pretty soon
Today the Euro went allready over 1,42 but retraced a bit again. In this 1 year chart you can see how tight it get's here for the Euro.I belive the € in this week braking this barrier:
This chart formation is called a "ascent triangle" and a good indicator for further rising quotes.
After that the € is free to go further, what'll probably happen pretty quick through the lack of further resistance lines up to this price. Here a 5 year chart:

It's getting interesting today
The premarket is doing well today and the Nikkei 225 future is 5.6% in the plus.
BMW 14 minutes before opening:
The BMW as the other stocks opened high today and are since more or less decreasing.
If something is happen, then out of nowhere as you can see in chart above. The market is very nervous, unpredictable and news sensitive today.:)

Today's grammar for Danny
Today we started late with the first lesson, because i promised Danny that we'll go to the market before.Just to add some more stuff to his Ben10 gear.He decided for the cellfone. He did even on the weekends on his own some more maths,so we're not in hurry.
Back home he went to the computer and asked for doing the Übfix grammar programm, hard to belive i know.:)
Then we started with "d or t".Danny readed the whole sentence and had to add the right letter by himself,by the keyboard.I helped him only with suggestions, like if the letter is the last one in the word put the word in plural, makes it easier and so on.
He needed 41 minutes for 10 tasks, which is imo acceptable for a first grader.
By the way,the programm is for the basic school, not particular for the first grade.
Here the result:

The new Google Chrome 10
We downloaded the final version of the Crome 10 as well, just to try:
The first remarkable impression was, that we got asked after the installation,if we want to import the bookmarks and autofills of another browser-great,of course.:)
The browser also translates foreign languages just with one cklick:
This browser is definitely faster as Firefox 3.6.15,no question.
If you decide to download be aware that you get only a installer to download, not a setup file. The download and installation follows afterwards and the install folder can't be choosed as with Firefox or Opera.
We like the final release of the Chrome 10 a bit better than the Opera, but that's of course a question of personal preferance.

Firefox 4.0
The new one will be out in 3 days. The changes are mainly in the design as well as for instance in the hardware augmentation, which is in this version responsible for 3D graphics, using DirectX for the Windows users,OpenGL for Mac's.Also touchscreen support is included. The browser launches much faster as the privious version,at least in the beta version,i tried for a few minutes.
In contrast to the new Explorer 9,which is only designed for Vista or Win7,the Firefox 4.0 runs on all XP versions as well.

Attitudes
Today we went to our common noddle soup kitchen again.
When we was sitting on a table we recognized the elderly gentleman from Osaka.
Whe greeted each other,he recognized Danny's name and talked to us for a short while.I offered him a chair on our table, but he rejected very politely and said he would like to continue to lern the Khmer language instead.
While we was having our soup i'm pretty sure he wasn't looking even onces up of his book, not in allmost half an hour until we left again and said goodby.
Remembering the scene afterwards, how he was lerning there so dilligent and dedicated, that was impressive.
I think this picture will remain in my mind for a while and will remember me frequently why i'm having a lot of respect for the Japanese.

The Euro !
I tell you one thing, they finish off trade between USA and EU with such a strong currency.
Here the € in the last ten years:
Now as you can see they are close to a strong resistance line, but in this mixed up markets the Euro easily could rise further. That would effect the export industry of Europe as much as it's dependent to US exports.
All other countries can purchase EU products like never before,as fast as the Euro is coming down against all other currencies.

Ubuntu installation
Unfortunatelly the Operating system requires a empty partition to be installed in.None of my five is empty,so i just checked out the programm few days ago virtually without installation, what is possible straight from the disc.
It is indeed very easy to use. After the first hour of impressions i would compare it in terms of complexity with "WindowsXP home edition".It does all the things a normal user needs in a very easy reference package.
On the other hand i would say it isn't really comparable but for sure a adequate free alternative for the "normal" user.
Of course i did not check out all the possible downloads to improve the OS further.
The whole design is also very pleasant and i did straigt find, what i was looking for.
As far as i know the privious version was different and just as another prgramm installable in a normal folder, not as usual in a free partition.
This is not the case with this upgrade anymore. It needs to be installed as any other OS.
Some readers maybe don't know that the system runs faster and more trouble free,if the operating system is installed on a seperate partition with nothing else on it.This way while the reinstallation of a operating system, the partition gets formated and the OS straight afterwards on a clean and formated harddisk partiton installed.I made accidently only one little partition of 40 GB,where our XP is installed in.
The partition management of another 2TB i intend to add in the next six months and use as the "main HDD"-which also contains the different OS i intend to install then will look different.
So the coming 2TB gets divided this way:
5 X 40 GB for up to 5 different OS,which are seperately accessable when the user start or restart the computer.
The rest of this HDD will be probably left in once.

Be carefull here
When we was driving around today in the later afternoon it suddenly made bang and our reartire was flat 100 meter further. In the fraction of a second a "helpfull" guy appeared out of nowhere on a motorbike and offered us to drive us to the market, while we could leave the motorbike at the Independence beach-sure my friend, because we where born 20 minutes ago we leave our allmost new motorbike in middle of nowhere to hang around at the market. The flat tire repairs itself meanwhile!
Instead i left the family where we had been in the shade and went by myself in direction to the main street, sitting allmost on the frontwheel.Allmost at the Ekkharechstreet there was a family on the left, who repaired motorbikes.I went there, said susaday and got back a friendly, understanding smile.
While waiting i got passed a Coke from the lady there.
I did not only left the camera at home, but also the cellphone,no connection to the family-shit happens.:)
While i was watching the mechanic i also talked to a young cambodian, who also mentioned that the Coke+repair would be 6000 riel-oh no 6000! riel-this is 1.50 US$.I said no problem and pulled out the money, just to discover that i had only 5300+50US$.I promised to change the money and return afterwards to pay the rest.
After the bike was repaired i went to pick up the family. We drove right to the Samudera supermarket, changed the 50 bucks and went back to the garage. When we stopped the family was quite surprised about the 1 dollar we gave them.
Typical Cambodian friendlyness and honesty can be found here side by side with the one guy(or girl),who tries to ripp you off.It works here as everywhere in the world and some common sense helps to get through the day.:)

Are there some bucks to make?
The BMW went back to their solid support line of their still valid upward trend and as you can see in this chart, the trend isn't broken yet:
I was before allmost allready on the buying button when the stocks turned very suddenly at around 9.40 am:
This could have esily "went into the pants" and as a advice in this context:
"Wait after a barrier breaking candle for at least one more confirmation candle."
But anyway-stocktrading rules.:)

Partition management
When we reinstalled XP three weeks ago we also repartitionated our 2 physical harddisks and devided this two into 5 different partitions with the
"Paragon Partition Manager 11 SE Personal"
This tool is pretty much the best in this sector and so sophisticated, you can occupy yourself quite a while with it.:)
Now i would like to part a existing partition further to install the Ubuntu on it.The Paragon does this of course too,but i'm a bit concerned about my existing files on this partition anyway.:)
It's written in PC magazines that the Paragon does it without data loss, but when i tried,he gave me a urgent warning that i schould backup my files before!?!
Life is not easy.

Today's equations for Danny
Danny had for the first time 40 of 40 correct in today's math lessons and we will continue tomorrow with more demanding ones.
The software is very versatile and provides all at school required lessons for the 1st.grade.
It's unfortunatelly not possible to change the language to English, but if interrested parents wouldn't mind to help themselves a bit with an online G-E dictionary i think the programm could be used effortlessly worldwide.

The new Opera Browser
Have you tried the new Opera 11.01?
This is according to tests in computermags right now the fastest browser available.Even slightly faster than the Google Chrome beta version.
We downloaded them all and compared the time to get the New York Times on the screen.
Was a lot of fun with Danny and we can say afterwards that the Chrome Beta and Opera 11.01 are a bit faster as our mostly used Firefox3.6.15.
No difference for us between Opera and Chrome.
The Opera browser contains a turbo mode, visible at the green taskbar button. When activating it the browser speeds up and feels also nice while scrolling.
We decided to keep the Opera as alternative to Firefox and deeinstalled the Chrome Beta again.
Now the final release of the Google Chrome 10 is out and can be downloaded since yesterday as far as i know. The Beta version was offered to try by Chip.de before.

Some more jealousy
I received a very hatefull, primitive and insulting comment of a brave guy,who is calling himself Anonymus.I did not publish that because it was so foolish, that i wouldn't do this to my readers.Of course the comment was in German and describes very well what i wrote priviously about the majority of my volk.

How to dim websides
When working for hours on the PC the eyes are getting tired and it's very nice to dim the side to a dark background with bright letters.
It's far less demanding for the eyeseight,as allways looking at a bright screen.
Firefox offers a nice AddOn for this purpose:Blackout
Here the blog in black:
Blackout can be activated by clicking on the bulb next to the Google search bar. This way is also a menue available, where the color can be choosed or to "stay in the dark"permanently.

Philosophy and wisdom
While i was surfing with Danny through philosophy before i thought maybe i schould write more about this passion.
The philosophy is imho a very mighty force and shows the reader often instantly the truth.
Words of the smartest ladies and gentlemen, who walked the earth should be in my humble opinion far more considered in personal decisions.
To study their quotations, they often just said along the way sometimes can really improve the life through the right answers for many questions we normal people are daily struggling with.
"Equality is leaving us calmness,it's the contradiction which makes us productive."
"Through nothing else a person is showing more of the personal character as through what she/he considers laughable."
"Who intents to do safe steps should do them slowly"
This are quotations of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and so many more can be found in the philosophy-this huge source of wisdom.

With this posting i'm starting a new topic,to share what i've learned though my weakness for philosophy.:)
Total stockmarket crash approaching?
What will be happen if they are no buyers anymore and all the confidence is gone?
I have seen this a few times in now 19 years active trading and i guess we aren't even half the way down the cliff yet.

The Nikkei 225 today
The most observed Japanese stock index, the Nikkei 225 is stabilizing itself since a while as you can see in the chart :
The index is even starting more confident moves upwards, what is a total surprise for me,to be honest with you.
The stockmarkets are mainly moved by automatic trading systems of banks, insurance companies and Hedge Fonds, which are normally adjusted to the Dow Jones. That means literally that the world markets are runing behind the DJ like the tail it's dog.
Today is from the beginning on everthing different. The whole financial world is starring at this particular index above and every thiny move of the Nikkei 225 is moving to 100% the world markets.
Only 26 minutes later my expectations became unfortunatelly true and the Nikkei 225 felt through his last support line of the day.Of course all the world markets i can see with one view to the screen went straight red again.
The immediate reaction of the Dow Jones:
Here the reason-The Fukhushima1 plant is now finally out of control,4 of 6 reactors are threatened by meltdowns:

Our Computer&Workstations
Our current computer is only a 2Gz. dualcore AMD Sempron,2 GB RAM and quite a lot of free additional diskspace.Nothing to write home about and allready 2 years old.
But that thing is working for everthing we are doing with it and a lot faster compared to the Pentium 1.8 we used before.
We aren't interested in a notebook as long as we are using the computer only at home.We repaired that thing allready twice by ourself, what was a matter of minutes. We couldn't do that with a notebook that easy. This is one of a few reasons for us to take a PC over a notebook.Another one is that you just get more value with a Pc for the same money.
Now they are all decreasing in the prices, harddisks are getting cheaper by the week exept the best ones.
Also the workstations are coming down.
Computers for softwaredevelopers, architects with for instance 192GB RAM and 30 core processors are in price regions now, more people can afford. They are impressive, this computers, but i don't know,if a normal user like myself would even feel a big difference.
The Intel Xeon equipped ones are down to 2500$ now.But additional hard disks(15.000rpm)are between 500-600$ per Terrabite and so on.The hi-end graphiccards aren't that cheap too and some of this computer are containing up to eight of them.
This workstations are looking pretty much like a normal PC,just higher through all the inbuilded cardslots.
The OS and often used programms are normally installed on a SSD-not a normal harddisk anymore.
Here the best Dell workstation:
http://www.dell.com/us/en/enterprise/desktops/workstation-precision-t7500/pd.aspx?refid=workstation-precision-t7500&s=biz&cs=555
Cars or factories get designed with this computers, quite impressive.Sometimes they are used in "farms" of dotzends of them, connected together.
We guess,we'll stick for a while longer to our "normal computer",or maybe upgrade to a 3.5 GB 4core,we'll see.The difference here is that it's not as easy as in a western country to get the most recent equipment. We would have to drive up to Phnom Penh if we want to replace our current PC and check out the offerings there.

Sihanouk Ville is attracting more and more expats
Cambodia is importing a lot of new expats in the last time.:)
You see that here all over the place.New business are getting established everywhere and it seems not hard to make some $$$ in Sihanouk Ville as readers mentioned in comments.Probably even more in Phnom Penh.
Cambodia is definitive growing again.New well deserved wealth of the citizens like many new cars and motorbikes here are visible everywhere,of course poverty too.
Nice to be in a rising country,to see increase every day, partly from scratch.

Danny likes maths
When i went out of the shower five minutes ago Danny was sitting on the computer and did math additions."Thank's honey, that you launched him the programm."
But Michi didn't.
He just went to the computer by himself, open the right folder with his school stuff, launched the programm and started exercising.
Danny is doing well in using the PC.Yesterday i showed him only once how to get to his courses.
I teached him a lot of other stuff as well like how to copy files, how to burn files on DVD and as you saw before here how to paint with art software.
He is lerning whenever he want's the capabilities of a computer.
So we readjusted and optimized the internet connection(15-20% faster as before). We also compared the speed of Firefox 3.6.15,Google Chrome beta version and Opera 11.01 yesterday evening together with a stoppwatch and some more stuff like that.
I'am teaching Danny about computer, because i'm aspecting incrase in complex thinking, what seems to work.
As creative as he is i could make him creating his first little homepage in let's say a year with a easy webeditor like Microsoft Frontpage.

The stockmarket disaster
The markets are in the free fall and there is no end visible yet.
Volkswagen 70 minutes after opening:
The Dax itself lost 4,8% at this time. The view on my screen can be only described as markets in panic and out of control.I haven't seen so much trading activity since the Lehman crash.
The stockmarket in Tokio is still open and is losing dramatically:
I'm not writing about it here to make up a sensation about it.This is just my way to deal with all this terrible incidents which are moving me quite a bit.
I'm very sorry for Japan and only hope the best for the country.Right yesterday we started talking with a Japanese gentleman at our prefered noodle soup kitchen. We was impressed by his selfcontrol to keep up a pleasant conversation with the family and myself. The gentleman is living here since a while and in origin from Osaka.
Hard to get his face out of my mind while reading the news.
We hope Japan will recover as soon as possible.

Another translator tool
A suggestion for readers, who would like to read this blog in another language you could use also the online based translation service of Google for this purpose.
http://translate.google.com/?hl=de&tab=wT#
The quality lacks a bit,but at least you get the message. Here the translation of the last posting i made into German with Google Interpreter:It's quite funny for people, who are understanding both languages.:)
"Der deutsche Finanzminister Wolfgang Schäuble sagte vor ein paar Tagen hat er "geht es um steuerliche Denken erleichtert. " (Wie das mit einem Staat so tief in die Schulden)?
In der Theorie der neuen Sprache weitgehend von politians die wir in deutscher Sprache "Neusprech Orwellsch" verwendet (nur nehmen das Gegenteil von dem, was er sagt und du hast die Wahrheit) diese sind nicht die besten Nachrichten.)"

A new language
The German finance minister Wolfgang Schäuble said a few days ago he is thinking about tax eases.(How that with a state so deep in the depts)?
In the theory of the new language so widely used by politians which we call in German"Orwellsch Neusprech"(just take the opposite of what he is saying and you got the truth)this aren't the best news.

The new Ubuntu
Here some links with more detailed info's about this operating system:
German:
http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Hardy_Heron
With the preparations to use this OS by choice along with XP Pro i'm learning all this stuff right now before installing this Linux version for the first time on the own computer.
I got some Linux impressions at a friends Pc few years ago(the only one i've ever met,who is using only Linux),what made me so curious about it.
He copied 2Gb on my USB stick in the blink of an eye for example, never saw that before.:)
Some more questions need to be answered(like how to make screenshots)until i can publish more first hand experiences about Ubuntu 8.4.:)

Firefox AddOn "IM Translator"
The original text get's kopied in the upper field then select one of more than 50 languages and click "translate".
Enbeded is also a dictionary, when clicking on the open book.
By the way,i never used IM Translator for blogpostings, but with it you can read for instance Asian newspapers and so on-quite a mighty, versatile tool.

Combined vaccinations for kids potentially lethal
Japan took combined vaccines off the market after 4 kids felt in a coma and died straight after the injection.According to the article it's far more dangerous to use combined products than to apply each one seperately.
Stockmarkets-Game over?
It will get ugly today and the German premarket private trading platforms are 30 min before opening completly red.Volkswagen is now 112 and falling further like a rock from a cliff.
The oilprice regained.
Here the good times best performer of the DAX-Volkswagen:
Update:
I could be worse 2 hours later, but they still have enough time to sell.

Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron
The free Linux based Ubuntu operating system developers released another upgrade.
The improvements of the upgrade are mainly in the easy useability, what should spread this great free alternative to Windows hopefully fast further.
I saw offerings of online computershops with Ubuntu allready installed. We will see where Ubuntu is in a few years.
The OS is installing and searching the net for necessary drivers all by itself with many more very convinient features.
The imho very good computermag. Chip is writing very convinced about the new release and i'm courious to give it a try pretty soon as well.
I'm collecting software and got right now 5 different OS in the collection.
I'm not really curious to install Win7,but i'll try this new Ubuntu release pretty soon.
