Free Q-Dir File Manager

Recently i reorganised my mixed up folders.Digipics from paragliding made their way in the family folder and so on-it looked like a lot of work.
I tried the free Q-Dir Filemanager for that purpose. The installation file is only a rediculous 398kb small, but saved me a lot of time and headache.
With the 4 different windows it's so easy to reorganise folders,if you don't want to spend $$$ on alternatives like "TotalCommander7.65a" for the same job.

The funniest 75 cent i've ever spend

When i was driving around before with the bike by myself i got stopped by a cop for driving without a helmet.
I've showed him my papers and he said i've to pay 1$ fine.I said ok and gave him 5000 Riel which is 1.25$.His comment was "well, you can go!"I told this dilligent and honest protector of law and order that he need to give me back 1000 Riel.
Unfortunetelly he didn't made it to count up from 4 to 5 and gave me 2000 Riel.
I'm still laughing about it and really have a big heart for the cops here.
By the way my multiple demand for a receipt remained unheared.

Infront of our house

This pic was made by us spontaneously before closing the gate. After editing the uploaded pics we just thought it's a extraordinary nice one, even more after some contrast and color improvements with the right software.

Uninvited vistors/2.nd

A scorpion did join us last evening and spended the night under a bowl. This cute fellow will get thrown out here pretty soon.Maybe we keep his cellphone.:)

Home schooling results after 4 weeks

While Danny was oviously not challenged enough at school we decided 4 weeks ago to teach him at home with the usage of online teacher services.
Another reason was that the aircon at school was turned up to the limit and i got myself looking in the classroom for icicles on the ceiling.Danny was often sick through that and went thinner and thinner to the day i promised him, that he don't have to go there anymore.Since that day his appetite is back and he's eating canstantly a hole in my wallet.:)
Back to topic:
We are teaching him for 2-3 hours 5 days a week in 30 min. blocks with 20 min. play-breaks between.
In the morning he is starting with me to read for the first 30 min.,maths is done after a break, usually with Michaela. He's sometimes coming by himself with a book and ask's one of us if we would mind to read with him.We didn't do any english lessons with him yet because at first he should concentrate on german reading and grammar,at least for another 2 months in our opinion.
We made school fun for our son, what oviously works.

Brent oil chart

In the last 6 months the European Brent oil went from 77 to now 111,yesterday the price increased another 5,2%.
The uprises in many arab countries are of course the reason.
Do you see a possible reversal in this Brent oil chart? The US Crude-oil fibre curve looks pretty much the same.

Firefox webpage to PDF converter add on

This is a nice add on for your Firefox. If you click on it the webside of web2pdf opens and converts your webside into a PDF file. After finishing the conversion all is left to do is to click on download to get the PDF file straight into your download folder.
This add-on is available under extras - add-ons - search for add-ons in your browser.
I'm not using the Acrobat ProX for that purpose anymore because the feature is so convinient.
If you want to get more into it,in combination with the freetool Do-PDF,which creates you a PDF of any document on your computer you get a nice combination of free available tools.
If you don't mind to spend 80€ on the best you can get for a resonable price maybe you give "PDF Expert 7 Ultimate" from Avanquest a try.

P.s.:
Alternative methodes for getting pretty much any software for free are not displayed in this blog.:)

BMW update

As predicted the stocks lost seriously and are coming closer to the price i would consider buying em again.Today they even went straight through another support line-the 59.
B
For guy's who never gave a daim about stocks before-that's how it look's like when they are having a real bad day.:)

A short afternoon ride

If you like Survivor and tropical landscape, then click on the video and enjoy what took me 3 attempts to upload to Youtube, plus time with a Avi-to-Mpeg converter and video editor to get the special effects, the sound and the location discriptions in.
I hope you like the video,i'm learning meanwhile further improvements with a audio editor,to get the disturbing wind noises while driving scenes of the track from the next one.:)

BMW-what's next?

Here a chart of the last 4 month. If they don't make it over the 64 again, you can expect imho retracement at least down to 59.

Right now,34 minutes after opening they are pretty much in the freefall to their next support lines.

I see no predictable scenario right now and in the following days i will remain on standby.

P.s.:Since i can play with all this different gadges it's even more fun to post in the blog.:)

Brent oil over 103

Wow,as mentioned earlier here in the blog the commodity prices are skyrocking. So does the oil and there is no end visible yet. Here comes some info's about today's gas prices in my town of birth,Munich:

Yes,we pay more than 2 US$ for one liter of gas!Of course for Germany there are 3 different kinds of tax on the gas,the ecotax, the VAT and the mineraloil-tax.So the gas itself is less than 30% of this price, the rest is tax!

Mubarak in Germany

According to Kopp-Verlag my guys are blessed with the company of Hussein Mubarak(one of the wealthiest mens in the world, while his volk suffered from poverty),who went to a private clinic near Baden-Baden.Nobody knows exactly how many people got tortured and killed under his regime. But of course our western governments liked this kind of "stability" Mubarak brought into the region. So we wish him a nice time in Gemany. We hope the clinic give you credit, your swiss bank accounts got freezed. No matter how many people you have on your account, you are still a huge friend of our unexeptional corrupt and criminal government.

A pic of the freshwater lake

The lake itself is quite huge.Swimming or kajaking is probably not allowed there or at least not common.

Just another pic of us

Today at the lake of Sihanouk Ville, which is the freshwater supply for the whole town, located near the Independence beach.

Stockmarket

I missed the last jump of the DAX from lowest 6940 to now over 7300 points.:(
I aspected the market to decrease at least to 6400 and had not enough trust to step in when the market suddenly turned.
My prefered car stocks did nothing in this time and BMW just catched up later with making more than 6% in 3 days. The bears(pessimistic Investors)got just overrunned by the money came in the the DAX from the emerging markets, which got widely sold by professional investors. They moved so many bucks from the 3rd. world to "save" harbors like the DAX that my theory just failed.

But i haven't lost a ct. and i'm now waiting for new opportunities.

The best operating system?

I started at 12 with computers. The first one was a Commodore 64.A impressive fast machine.:)After that a PC/Celeron with Win 98.Since 2001 i'm running XP and after a short excursion to Vista a few weeks ago i'm back to XP Professional incl. Service pack 3 for perhaps quite a while.:)
Vista is imho. a very safe OS,which prevents the unexperienced user of many mistakes and therefore virus infections. But it was sooo slow on my dual core 2.0Ghz.compared to XP,that i prefer to count on certain tools to keep the PC safe as to wait ages to get a DVD burned.
There is a light version of Win 7 available called "7 Lite" designed for notebooks and slower PC's i would put into consideration if there would be no XP Pro.
The instal. pack of Win7 itself have over 3 times the size of the XP Pro pack+sp3,that gives me doubts about the system speed too.I haven't tried Win7 yet,but would like to do it on a strange computer first before i would decide to install this elephant at my hard drive.:)
Even the best computers currently available(workstations with 192GB RAM upwards/30 core processors and so on)designed for software developers, architects etc.are preferably equiped with XP or Linux. Why that???
Why is on the fastest and best computers of users, who are oviously in the know what they are doing still XP the first choice?

Life here compared to Europe

Allmost six month ago we left Europe and arrived after a 2 day trip finally in Sihanouk Ville.
We are not regreting this step at all,i can tell you that with confidence and when thinking back to all the camplications and hassles over there(for instance 5 tax explainations per anno as selfemployed one man company),the yearly tax increases, the prices, the same salaries since 15 years in Germany, the complicate people and so on it feels so liberating to have left this all behind for good.
We took the risk to come as a western family to a strange country, educated by Youtube and web info's about Cambodia in advance and found what we was looking for.
A country where the state doesn't rip you off on a dayly basis, where the people are extraordinary friendly and easy to come along with, where the sun shines every day, where it makes you smile when you look over your right shoulder right at the sea while driving motorbike, where you can efford to life in a adequate nice new build 3 bed room/bathroom house without working 300 hours a month, where you dont have to pay 50! different kinds of taxes, where more people are than laws and where you can smoke what you want without getting your door kicked in!
Despite all little disadvantages(like electricity cut-off's)it's far better here,at least for us and our lifestyle.

Chinese new year is over

We got the town full of domestic tourists from last thursday to sunday for the celebration of Chinese new year. This fair gets in Asia as much celebrated as Christian new year in the western world. Some of our neighbors are Chinese and it was interesting to watch their traditional rituals like burning little paper sacrefices all at the same time throughout the whole town or banging your ears with their crackers.
The traffic in Sihanouk Ville during that time was even more demanding as usual.:)
Now everthing got back to normal and we still enjoy our time here a lot.In this context it's not easy for us to make decicions regarding our "Plan B".It's just such a nice, calm and stressfree easy way of going as well as our very nice 3 bedroom house,we rented for 200$ per month(what is even here a steal)what makes it hard to decide.

Visa for India is solved

We got the OK from our contact in India. Our friend there went to the immigration and other agencies to get that fixed.
Our "Plan B" is after this good news established and we have plenty of time to decide. We would perhaps move to Maisor, where many tourists are doing their yoga courses,as said-plenty of time to decide.:)
Maisor is located 150 km's benith Bangolore, the center of India .com economy. If we decide to give it a try we would like to be there by the beginning of oktober.

Computer issues

Our PC wasn't working as he supposed to since a month. That's why i started to get far more into the field with advice from a friend here. You know,i was just a user with not so much idea how that stuff in the background really works. But the issue cought my attention, because here in the area isn't anybody, who is fixing major computer problems for a living,as far as i know. Many guys are stuck with their problems and can't get their PC or Notebook back in order.
So i fixed all the bugs, learned how delete viruses or unwanted software remainings manually for instance, increase the speed of the pc-system and so on.Now i also can reinstall Windows by myself for instance. The whole machine got reorganized, cleaned and with the right downloads improved.
I learned all that, what i considered as boring and uninteresting before. In fact it's not that boring at all.
Anyway,it's far to nice in Sihanouk Ville to spend to much time indoors.:)
